Remarks on Ho Chi Minh City Airport

  • Ho Chi Minh City Airport (Tan Son Nhat Airport) is at the limit of its capacity. The waiting time at immigration counters can be very long. You should also expect some waiting time in the Fast Track Lane. Example: If the waiting time in the Normal Line is 60 minutes, you can expect a waiting time of about 20 minutes in the Fast Track Line.
  • You can switch to the VIP LANE by booking an upgrade for US$80. This again reduces the waiting time to the least possible. If you want this upgrade please call us directly or add a remark in the Booking Form (below on this website)!

  • The Airport has only one Fast Track Lane and one VIP Lane. All Companies who are offering Fast Track Services can only use these lanes. So no matter which company or website you book with: the Fast Track Lane or VIP Lane and the amount of passengers waiting there will be the same.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to go through pass through the Airport:

  1. Proceed to immigration: Once you’ve disembarked from your flight, head to the Immigration hall by following the signs for immigration.
  2. Present your passport and visa:
    • If you have a Visa Approval Letter you get your Visa Stamp at the Visa Stamping Couter (VOA = Visa on Arrival) and you will need to pay the visa fee at this counter.
    • If you have an E-Visa you can directly proceed to the Immigration Counter for Passport Control
    • If you are a citizen of a country with visa exemption for Vietnam (no Visa in advance necessary) you can also directly proceed to the Immigration Counter for Passport Control.
  3. Collect your luggage: Proceed to the baggage claim area to collect your luggage. Be sure to check the arrival board for your flight information and the correct luggage carousel.
  4. Clear customs: At the customs area, you may be asked to declare any goods you are bringing into Vietnam. If you have nothing to declare, you can simply pass through the green channel. If you have items to declare, you will need to go through the red channel and declare your goods to a customs officer.
  5. Exit the airport: Once you have cleared customs, you are free to exit the airport and continue your journey.

The VIP Lanes are reserved for Diplomats, Flight Crews and APEC/ABTC Members. Depending on the situation, immigration officers will assign you to one of these lanes. The waiting time here is significantly shorter than elsewhere (but not zero).
